초록

This study was performed to investigate the concentration of heavy metals in
shampoo used for hair loss prevention. The concentration of the heavy metals(Pb, As,
Cd and Hg) were analyzed in 30 shampoos used for hair loss prevention using
inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES) and a direct mercury
analyzer. The mean concentration of Pb and Hg in total shampoo were 0.770±
0.275(0.333~1.535) ㎍/g and 0.002±0.002(0.001~0.007) ㎍/g, respectively, while As and
Cd were not detected. There was no statistically significant difference in the mean
concentrations of each heavy metal in shampoo in terms of principal ingredients. As
shown above, there was very low concentration of heavy metals in shampoo used for
hair loss prevention. However, we use these shampoos everyday, therefore, we are
susceptible to chronic exposure to heavy metals. Thus, a protocol to prevent health
impairment due to heavy metals must be developed.
